Maintenance Guide
Proper PC Maintenance and Protection
Keep It Clean Inside and Out
-
Dust is the number one enemy of PC towers. Over time, it can clog fans and cause components to overheat. Here’s how to stay ahead:
-
Exterior cleaning: Wipe the case regularly with a dry or lightly dampened microfiber cloth. Make sure air vents are free from obstructions.
-
Interior cleaning: Every 3–6 months, power down and unplug the system. Open the case and use a can of compressed air to blow out dust from fans, heatsinks, and components. Be gentle—avoid touching sensitive parts.
Ensure Proper Airflow and Placement
-
Keep the tower off the floor (especially carpet) to prevent dust buildup and improve airflow.
-
Allow at least a few inches of clearance on all sides of the case, especially near intake and exhaust fans.
-
Consider extra case fans or dust filters if your setup runs hot or is in a dusty environment.
Perform Software Maintenance
-
Update your operating system and drivers regularly to fix bugs, patch vulnerabilities, and improve hardware compatibility.
-
Uninstall unused programs and run built-in tools like Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter (or Optimize Drives for SSDs) to keep things running smoothly.
-
Restart your PC at least once a week to clear temporary files and finish updates.
-
Maintain Security
-
Install reputable antivirus or antimalware software and keep it updated.
-
Avoid suspicious websites and email attachments.
-
Enable your system firewall and consider using a secure password manager.
Back Up Your Data
-
Hard drives and SSDs can fail unexpectedly, so:
-
Use an external drive or cloud backup service to regularly save your important files.
-
Set up automatic backups for peace of mind.

Use a Surge Protector
-
Power surges can damage your PC. Always plug your tower into a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS)—never directly into the wall outlet.
By following these tips, you’ll help ensure your PC tower stays cool, clean, and high performing for years to come. Thank you again for supporting our business.
